First entry here, so it might as well be about the site itself.
Started as a request for a dev.to post and a Discord message, turned into "build me a full site," and ended up as a Next.js app with a password-gated admin dashboard, sitting on Neon Postgres, deployed on Vercel.
Two things worth logging.
The actor catalog on /actors isn't a database table. Every card is fetched live from Apify's own API at request time, not copied data. This repo doesn't share a filesystem with the other actor repos once deployed, so the catalog can't go stale, and adding a new actor later is a one-line change instead of a data-entry chore.
better-sqlite3 doesn't install on this machine. No Python or build tools set up locally, so npm install failed on node-gyp before any code got written. Swapped to Node's built-in node:sqlite for local dev, zero extra dependency, then swapped again to real Postgres once it was time to deploy, since serverless functions don't keep a writable local file between requests anyway. Three storage layers in one build, each one forced by a real constraint, not a preference.
